Our Overton DNA program continues to grow at a steady pace and we now have 63 members as of January 2013.
The number of clans also continues to expand so that now we have 10 distinct groups of two or more participants whose Y-DNA results indicate a common ancestor within the past several hundred years.
A somewhat noteworthy event occurred within our Clan 2 recently when two of our newly recruited Overton male participants' results came back. These two close cousins, Perkins Baxter Overton (kit #260730) and John Overton Hard (kit #262760) are documented descendants of Judge John Overton, founder of the famed Traveler's Rest in Memphis, Tennessee. Their Y-DNA test results place them squarely and unequivocally within the confines of Clan 2.
There was never any serious doubt about the ancestry of Clan 2 participants, including the claim to be descendants of the highly regarded General Robert Overton (b. 1609, Yorkshire, England); however, this latest finding helps solidify the proposed relationships between the above General Robert Overton, Judge John Overton and the documented ancestors of those Overton males whose Y-DNA results placed them in Clan 2.
