About us
Our DNA goals are straightforward. We want to enable Overton family genealogists from all cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds to use scientific-based technology to find connections to their respective heritages.
The method used in accomplishing this goal is group individual participants into "Clans" based on the results of their Y-DNA test. At the same time, we encourage all participants to furnish their Overton lineage so that we may reflect the lineage on the Clan charts (found on the "Results" tab of this website). Anyone in the clan is then able to compare what they know about their own lineage to that of another Overton lineage in the same Clan. Participants are encouraged to contact each other and exchange data and ideas.
An additional goal is for any and all participants to completely understand the basis and procedure used to determine Clans. No question is too "simple" and the only "stupid" question is one that is not asked. Everyone is encouraged to take full advantage of the knowledge base at the disposal of the Group Administrators.
