About us
Many families have lived together in the old Orangeburgh District area for several centuries, and linkages between these families are complex. All of these families are of interest to this project and to the parent organization, the Orangeburgh Genealogical Society (OGS or OGSGS). While the OGS was first established to study the German-Swiss settlers of the District, it quickly expanded to include all of the interrelated families that settled in the area. This DNA study group permits convenient comparison of yDNA, mtDNA and autosomal DNA results to help resolve problems associated with unidentified ancestors. To use DNA effectively, there must be comparison of DNA with known lineages and pedigrees with DNA results. That is the purpose of this project.
