Our Nye/Nigh/Neu DNA Project is recruiting participants, for comparisons, to verify the Neu/Ney/Nye/Neigh/Nigh/Noy (and any other alternate spellings) family lineages published in L. Bert Nye's books concerning English and German families of these surnames. DNA testing can provide those answers. At this time the Y-DNA111 marker kit or Big Y 700 are recommended (for males only). The Y-DNA 111 marker kit or Big Y 700 kit (for males only) is recommended for males of direct Neu/Ney/Nye/Nigh/Neigh (and alternate spellings), FATHER to SON ancestry in every generation. Y-DNA test results are the easiest way to determine shared ancestry within similar surnames. The Y-DNA 111 marker results or Big Y 700 provide the most value to our Y-DNA project and to other participants. If there is another surname spelling that should be included in this group, please contact the Administrator. mtDNA and Family Finder (atDNA) participants may also request to join our project. For any join request, please supply information on ancestry relevant to surnames included in this project. Those males who have previously tested at 37 markers or less should order the upgrade kits to Y-111 or Big Y-700. Family Tree DNA's Family Finder kit results can identify cousins as distant as 6 generations, for MALES or FEMALES. Also both females and males can order the mtDNA kits. Results of mtDNA testing reflect ONLY female ancestry of the participant.
