NOTICE: Please consult one of the Administrators before ordering a test kit. Participants in FT DNA Family surname projects receive kits at a reduced cost.
At present ONLY Y-DNA 67 or Y-111 marker kits are recommended for new Y-DNA participants.
1. To establish when there was a common ancestor, even when the surname is an alternate spelling.
2. To separate so-called Nye (and variations of that surname) families of English origin, from Neu (and variations in that spelling, such as Ney, Nigh, Nye) families of German origin.
2. To establish if families living in the same locations, or nearby share a common ancestor, even when the spelling of the surnames vary.
3. To determine other possible early geographical origins of any NEU, NEY, NEW, NEIGH, NIGH, NYE family.
