About us
To facilitate male and female DNA testing of lines, families and individuals of the Petit surname and their allied families.
1) To establish DNA haplotypes of Petit lineages in any country where their is interest and use the data to link to localities of origins.
2) To test areas of origins with existing descendents to assist in locating immigrants origins in France, England, Ireland and any other country (including Bavaria where legend has that a race of Petits from Normandy established themselves but the name died out in eight generation)
3) To determine the Petit DNA haplotypes of knights and warriors of William the Conqueror
4) To assist in making new genealogical connections to Petit "strays" of the British Isles
5) To maintain a balance with quality DNA samples, well researched genealogies and identify testing plans to maximize resources. To use optimal tests for the funds that are available and develop a cooperative support for lineal testing plans. As an example - only two good DNA samples from known but appropriately distanced cousins are all that is needed to establish relatedness and a lineal DNA haplotype ( marker values of that line). But more expensive deep testing of just one of them will do more to help connect to the earlier ancestry than to test both for the same thing. This takes some understanding of the statistics and probabilities and the goal of the lineal testing plan.
6) To provide a focal point where researchers and interested people can network with others to use DNA testing as a family or lineal group effort. This can be accomplished with collaborative funding and utilize the more advanced DNA tests of any company as a cooperative interest.
7) To share our DNA and research experience with other family researchers and interested persons and provide a connection for other to participate by working together as co-coordinators for individual lineages or regions or counties. Please step forward and get involved.
