The Mosimann family can be traced to the Emmental of Canton Bern about the year 1500. Migrations have spread the family to Germany, France, and America. Some members of the family were Anabaptists who fled Switzerland in the latter part of the 1600s to escape brutal persecution. They left almost all their possessions behind to seek a new home where they could live and worship in peace
