My Dad George G. McMahon Jr. (1959-2018) from Lowell, Massachusetts. He was proud to be Irish and he's the reason I got into genealogy to find out more about our family. We are related to boxer Micky Ward through my 2nd great aunt (Emma McMahon) who was his grandmother. Anybody from Lowell area on here?
Can someone give me some info on these results? Not sure what to make of them.
My McMahon ancestors of Lowell, Mass. My 3rd great grandfather James F. McMahon (back from 2nd from right) born in County Tyrone, Ireland and my 2nd great grandfather Frank P. McMahon (middle row 2nd from right) born in Meeker County, Minnesota.
This is William L. McMahon, born 1840 in Alabama and died abt 1890 in Webster Co., Mississippi (my gg grandfather). He was a lay preacher and served in the Civil War, he was wounded at the battle of Peach Tree Creek outside of Atalanta, GA. Williams father was David McMahon b. 1814 in SC and died in abt 1880 in Webster County, MS. David married Mary Liles, 1837 in Alabama. David is my brick wall, can not figure out who his parents are. Both of David's parents were born in SC based on David's age assume they were born approx 1785/90.
My search has taken me to Moynalty, County Meath. I believe my ancestor Thomas McMahon wife Mary ( Carolan ) and children John,Elizabeth, Peter, Sarah, Thomas emigrated to Canada from here in the late 1800's. I have located the tithing record 1828 for William McMahon who I believe was the father of Thomas. This matches the information listed in the McMahon's of Trohanny. The search goes on.
