We hope to learn to what extent people with the surname McGlasson are genetically homogeneous and if they are closely related or identical to people with surnames such as McGlashan and McGlaston. Thus we want to be able to distinguish between genetic and orthographic differences within this group. We also intend to identify the Scottish sources of Americans with the surname McGlasson (and variants).
