Welcome to the MacNeil surname Y-DNA Project. This project is open to all MacNeils (and variant spellings) who wish to know their paternal genetic heritage, especially as an aid to genealogy and family history studies. MacNeils who trace their line back to the Scottish Hebrides are particularly sought but families with forebears who settled elsewhere are also welcome. There are now descendants of the MacNeils of Barra scattered in all parts of the world.
