The goals for this Luther Surname DNA Project are:

To identify others who are related to the colonial brothers Michael, George, Christian and Jacob Luther of Maryland and North Carolina; Captain John Luther of the Massachusetts Bay Colony; David Luther of Ireland; Christian Luther of Urbana, Illinois; Christian Luther of Pennsylvania; Johann Luther of Kansas; and Daniel Luther of Wisconsin.
2. To determine if there is a common ancestry for these seven lines or a common geographic origin.
3. To validate existing research.
4. To determine if any of these Luther lines are related to Martin Luther's lineage.
5. To share this information with other Luther surname researchers.
