About us
The Kidd Y-DNA surname study actively seeks participation from any interested Kidd family members. If you are a female Kidd, please consider recruiting your Kidd father, brother, uncle, or male cousin to join the study.
Through sponsorships, some funding for test kits may be available for selected Kidd lines that are not currently represented in the Kidd Y-DNA surname study.
If you would like to sponsor a particular Kidd line, or to make a contribution to the group fund to fund general Kidd Y-DNA testing, please contact Sandra Kidd at skkidd@bellsouth.net or Steven Perkins, study group administrator, at scperkins AT gmail.com.

"Most Wanted" Kidds for the Y-DNA Study
We are actively seeking descendants of confirmed Middlesex Co, Virginia, Kidd lines not represented in our Kidd Y-DNA study. If you know or suspect that you descend from one of these families, please contact Sandra Kidd at skkidd@bellsouth.net . We have a great deal of information on the Kidds of Middlesex Co and may be able to help you document your family tree.
We are currently seeking:
A documented descendant of Thomas Kidd II (ca 1669-1727), eldest son of Thomas Kidd, the immigrant to Virginia
A documented descendant of John Kidd (ca 1694-1759), married Rebecca Godbee
A documented descendant of James Kidd (1738-1795), wife Mary, lived in Urbanna, Virginia
A documented descendant of James Kidd's sons Benjamin of Urbanna, James Jr., Thomas, or William N. Kidd
Kidds of Maryland descent, especially Calvert Co, Maryland
Kidds with documented descent from Cambridgeshire, England, especially Soham Parish
FULL SPONSORSHIP to fund a 37-marker test will be provided for a Kidd with documented descent from Soham Parish who does not descend from either Thomas Kidd, emigrant to Virginia ca 1646, or Asa Kidd, emigrant to Illinois ca 1850s. For details, please contact Sandra Kidd at skkidd@bellsouth.net.
We also welcome participation from Kidds from the Borders region of England and Scotland, especially Kidds from Yorkshire, and any other Kidds of English, Irish, or Scottish origins

The study has no proven descendant of Thomas II, who married Alice Trigg. Finding a descendant of this line is very important--because we have good representation already from the line of William Kidd, younger son of Thomas Kidd the immigrant.
FULL SPONSORSHIP will be provided to fund a 37-marker test for a documented descendant of Thomas Kidd II and Alice Trigg through one of their known sons:
- Thomas III, b ca 1692, m (1) Margaret, (2) Elizabeth Laurence, (3) Phyllis
- John, b ca 1694, m Rebecca Godbee
- Daniel, b ca 1696, m unknown
- William, born and baptized 1716, m unknown
