The five-fold purpose of the project is to:
1. Establish a method of linking descendants of John Jacob, Sr. as a reliable adjunct to documentary research;
2. Better identify the person, John Jacob;
3. Validate various Jacob(s) genealogies that rely on circumstantial evidence;
4. Substantiate or refute long asserted connections to certain English lines; and
5. Serve as an impetus for expanded research regarding ancient and related lines beyond America.
