Y-DNA RESULTS
Our y-DNA results are displayed on the Hunnicutt FamilyTreeDNA website in the "DNA Results" section. Currently only project members can view the result charts. The results are analyzed and sorted into "Lineages" based on predicted relationships determined by each member's individual genetic profile. The display offers selections to include in the report chart and if you select the Colorized option, it will highlight changes (mutations) for each marker compared to the mode. The mutations can identify not only lineages, but also various branches within lineages. Members are listed by their kit number, not by their name. We ask that all members include their earliest known ancestor.
Haplogroup - Lineages are grouped by Haplogroup. A haplogroup is a genetic population of a large group of people who share a common ancestor, analogous to a huge clan (like Celts or Vikings). It can be viewed as a tree ("haplotree") with many limbs and branches. Members of this project may refer to the Bulletin section for further explanation and diagrams regarding the Honeycutt Haplotree.
Lineage Grouping - Men who match at least 23/25, 33/37, 62/67, or 100/111 are grouped within the same Lineage. Note that the y-DNA-37 test is generally considered the entry-level test for identifying matches whose shared patriarch lived within a genealogically meaningful timeframe. All Honeycutt NPE Lineages are grouped together in their own Lineage which consists of sub-groups to differentiate between them.
Ungrouped - New members are automatically temporarily assigned here. Once the Project Administrator has reviewed the new member's genetic detail, they will be reassigned to their correct Lineage. New members who do not yet match anyone currently in the Hunnicutt Project will remain Ungrouped until they match another new Hunnicutt Project member at 37 markers or above which at that time they will be assigned to a new Lineage.
Mutation color coding - Color coding is used to mark the mutations (differences) from each Haplogroup profile.
HUNNICUTT LINEAGES & ORIGINS
See the Updates Tab for a summary on each of the Lineages that appear in the results chart, this is only open to members of the project. New Hunnicutt lineages will continue to be added in time as new members join the project. Whether you're a Hunnicutt/Honeycutt man by name, by y-DNA, or both, we welcome your participation!
AUTOSOMAL RESULTS
We are a y-DNA surname project. Although our primary focus is y-DNA, we recognize that our members can often benefit from also taking the autosomal DNA (atDNA) test, Family Finder. Thus, for those Hunnicutt Project members who have taken Family Finder, we will be happy to help you with your Family Finder tools and results.
