About us
The Hunnicutt Project is a voluntary collaborative effort of various Honeycutt lineages whose mission is to better understand the Honeycutt genetic genealogy by comparing results and trees of members with their matches. HUNNICUTT, HUNICUT, HONEYCUTT, HONEYCUT, HUNEYCUTT, HUNEYCUT male testers, and any other reasonable spelling variant, are welcome to join the project. Since only males carry the y-chromosome, only yDNA kits from men with the surname of Honeycutt, or kits that match at least one other in the project at y-DNA-37 or above, will be allowed to join. If you are female, you can have a male Honeycutt relative submit a sample for your line. To participate meaningfully, testers will need to share their direct male-line ancestry back to the earliest known patrilineal ancestor using ftDNA's "FamilyTree" options.
By joining the group you agree to provide the project with 3 things:
1) The surname of the person being tested.
2) The name, date and place of birth of the oldest researched male ancestor of your male patrilineal line.
3) Permission to publish the DNA results and the names, dates and places of birth of the oldest known patrilineal ancestor.
To ensure the integrity of the Project, all y-DNA tested members must have signed the ftDNA release permitting matching. We ask that all members to respect our mutually synergistic approach and also to share your Honeycutt lineage trees with your genetic matches. By sharing what we discover, we can all learn more about our Honeycutt genetic heritage.
