About us

Do you (or any kin you know of) have Dupuytren's Contracture?

A kinsman recently had Dupuytren's contracture surgery, a/k/a Viking's disease, which is interesting because two current (9/4/2008) members of the project belong to Haplogroup I1a, probably descending from Vikings or Scandinavians

According to Wolfgang Wach's post of 8/16/2008 at 02:15, "Dupuytren's disease is the 'classical' hand illness of the North: it affects people of Celtic or Viking descent throughout the whole of Northern Europe, whereas it is an unknown disease in the Mediterranean region."

For more information, see the Dupuytren's Society's blog at http://www.dupuytren-online.info/Forum_English/board/forum-archive-1-do-children-inherit-dupuytrens-3_178_2.html or simply google Dupuytren's contracture or disease.
