Welcome to the DNA project for Hannay related surnames. These may include more than just those shown. We invite anyone who believes this project may be of help to join the project. Please understand we may separate different surnames from the main groups if they do not appear to be related within genealogical time (the last 1000 years). 

Most project members at this time appear to be related to Scottish Hannays. However, it is known that there are a great number of Middle Eastern Hannas. The name Hanna in Arabic is apparently a Christian first name equivalent to John. In Arabic, a paternal indication frequently follows a name. Undoubtedly, other languages may have names similar to Hannay, Hannah, Hanna or Hanney as well.
