The Gorham surname DNA Project was created for the purpose of gathering information about the Gorham surname. The earliest and largest Gorham family in America was founded by (Capt.) John "Gorum" (as he spelled his name). Capt. John married Desire Howland, eldest child of Mayflower passenger John Howland & Elizabeth Tilley. In addition, a Miles Gorham lived in Virginia in the late 17th Century and his family line flourished. There are almost certainly other Gorham families both in America, as well as across the globe. This project will work on identifying the various Gorham families by analyzing their Y-DNA signature and seeing if any of these families are related.
