Family Tree DNA TutorialFamily Tree DNA Glossary of TermsRecommended ReadingAnother Webpage of our Project This project will explore the genetic and geographical origins of people with the surname Gillette and its variant spellings. The initial results show that not everyone with the last name of Gillette are necessarily related to each other. The project is open to any male with the Gillette surname. If you are a female from the Gillette family, you can enter the project by having a male family member tested and submitting his results. I ask that upon entering the project, you submit as much information about your most distant Gillette ancestor as you know. Leaving the most distant ancestor line empty tells us absolutely nothing about our common families, so if you only know a state or another small detail, please include that in your ancestral profile.
Early results show that our Gillette name has origins in France, Holland, and the United Kingdom. Haplogroup testing has shown that many Gillettes now in the US had Northern European or Scandinavian origins. The more people that join the project, the more knowledge will become available to help us understand our family. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have about this project.
