The fact that we have seven participants but with only two matches indicates that the Gillett/Gillette surnames were founded by a number of men that were not related to each other. A goal of this project is to discover how many Gillett/Gillette lines exist and if there is any genetic relationship between all the various spellings of the surname. Another goal is to determine which haplogroups the Gillett/Gillette surname falls into. Currently, three participants are in haplogroup R1b1, one in R1b1c, one in Ila, and one in haplogroup I.
