The GagnefSwedenOrigins group project is for individuals with either female (mtDNA) or male (Y-DNA) ancestry from the Gagnef parish (commune), in Dalarna, Sweden. Members MUST have a direct ancestor who was born in and/or emigrated from Gagnef, Dalarna, Sweden. It is known that many of the early immigrant families from Gagnef parish are also descendants of the first Vicar (minister/priest) of Gagnef parish, Olaus Laurentius. If you know you are one of his descendants, please notify the group project administrator, who can review your family tree (or gedcom) file with you to verify your ancestry. Who knows, you could be the missing DIRECT male or female descendant we are looking for, going all the way back to Olaus’ children (which may tell us where Olaus’s parents were from before emigrating to Sweden during the reformation!)
