The project includes men with the U1 mutation or reliably predicted to be U1+. Persons unsure of their G category should join instead the G-Uncategorized Project. The administrator there can help transfer you to the correct G project if your correct category is determined. If your 37 or 67 or more marker values are different from men already in the project by 5 or less, you are reliably within U1. Twelve markers are not reliable for this. The major subgroups of U1 are based on men sharing one of the L13 or L1266 mutations. We also welcome representatives of U1 males who are deceased, unavailable or otherwise unable to join, including females as their representatives and custodians of their Y-DNA. The primary goal of the project is to identify new subgroups within haplogroup G-U1 which will provide better focus to the migration history of our haplogroup G-U1 ancestors.
