Hello, here's a screenshot of some of my chromosome 19 matches. The top one has an English name but the bottom 6 have completely Finnish names, ancestral surnames and heritage. The block size varies between 7 and 12 centimorgans but it's usually 7.8cM from 48m to 53m. I have established links to New Sweden but none of them share this bit of DNA. There's several matches in the United States who I share a common ancestral name of Hale.
Considering I'm fairly certain with my tree prior to early 19th century and it's all United States, does anyone know how to establish my Finnish ancestors?
Hello, my name is Marie Rundquist and I've entered my Family Finder results here. I was born in the State of Maryland in the USA, where I still live today; my father's people are from the Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland (Somerset County), and it is through my father's line that I match several families within this project. I only speak English and apologize for inability to communicate otherwise.
My latest 2019 Family Finder matches reveal a direct ancestral link with project members who appear to have full, native, Finnish ancestry and surnames.
If you are reading this post, look for me by name in your matches. Here is a sampling of what I find in Chromosome Browser for Finnish "in common with" matches, many of them members of this project (at 5 CM). This is my Ancestry Tree (public) and the line to trace is for Frank H. Pierce III (my late father) whose Y-line was for the Bounds surname. His mother's line traces through her Brown surname. https://www.ancestry.com/family-tree/tree/29891233/family/pedigree
Johan Erik Runeborg f.

This is my younger brother Christopher John Nelson. He resembles the man in the photo of the couple below by Rachel. Does anyone else see a strong resemblance? Isn't DNA amazing? He just needs a moustache!
Another guy from Torsby, Sweden
This couple was in a velvet book I have on my Swedish ancestors. The photo was taken by Aug Pehrson in Torsby Sweden. I am wondering if it could be the parents of my Great Grandma, Mary Nilsdotter Vaissinen Bergstrom. Her parents were Nils Vaissinen Jansson Bergstrom and Marie Persdotter. They were born in 1832 and 1835 respectively. Nils was born in Ostmark and Marie was born in Vitsand, Sweden. If you would like to reach me, feel free to email firstname.lastname@example.org I have Vassinens, Maninens, and other Finnish surnames.
What an interesting trip in Finnforest of Sweden and Norway! We were a group of Finnish Family Researchers (mostly from Savo) visiting this beautiful area meeting our distant dna-cousins. (August 28.- September 2.) Special thanks to Jan Myhrvold for the guiding!
