Hello! I am Jennifer Dennis Orender. I am working with my dad and should have his DNA results added to the group soon. Meanwhile, This is a picture of my earliest Dennis relative, William Robert Dennis, and his wife Dollie Griggs. William was born 13 Sept 1885 (or 1883 depending on the record) in Tennessee. Rumor has it, he was abandoned at a Nashville hotel. Eventually he made it to Milan, TN, where he met Dollie. He died 11 May 1972 in Evansville, IN.
Thanks to the group for allowing me to join even though my surname is not Dennis, although it should have been. Found out through several DNA tests that we have some mis-attributed paternity going on in our family. My father's father was actually a Dennis, not a Corray. Fortunately, a 2nd cousin tested, and through him, I was able to identify much of my Dennis family including my grandfather Everett Harvy Dennis and his father William Stephen Dennis (in photo). This line appears to go back through Samuel G. Dennis (1757 – 1820) and Mary Yocum (1774 – 1831). I would love to hear from any other members of the group who may be familiar with this family line. Mike Corray, Kit # 460657
This is my Great Grandfather, Andrew Jackson Dennis and his wife Sarah (Shields) Dennis. Picture allegedly taken in late 1890's. Andrew Jackson Dennis was born in Jackson County Tennessee in 1851, and died in Webster County, Missouri in 1920. Andrew Jackson Dennis came to Missouri with his father, Andrew R. Dennis. Andrew R. Dennis was born in 1818 in Jackson County, TN, and died in Webster County, MO in 1900.
Hello Dennis members! Below is a photo of my latest know Tennison ancestor, Joseph Stokes Tennison, born 1818 in Missouri, died 1896 in Laclede County, Missouri. He as married to Elvira Cooper. I have hit a brick wall with him. If any thoughts as to who his ancestors may be, I'd love to hear! Maybe we could help each other out as well.
This is a picture of my father, Thomas Ely Dennis, Sr and his brother Walter Monroe Dennis. L-R Walk and, Tom. This photo was taken in Diamond Hill, a suburb of Fort Worth, Texas about 1921. I am hopeful to make some connections that will head me toward finding others who are related to me. I have tried unsuccessfully to convince other distant relatives to complete a test and help me make a DNA connection to Edward Dennis (1726-1774) [my grandfather] to his brother, Thomas Dennis III (1724-1803). I would love to receive a connection to others who are held back by folks who only believe in a paper trail as real research and that DNA is of little importance. Please share your thoughts with me...
