About us
Our project's goal is to determine the extent to which individuals with the surname Darley (variously spelled) relate to one another worldwide - genetically and genealogically.
This website has been created to bring together genealogical researchers of the Darley line in an effort to determine the ancestry and roots of the various Darley families.
Any male bearer of the surname Darley or its above-mentioned variants is invited to participate. Our project compares the unique Y-Chromosome (Y-STR) segments that fathers pass intact to their sons, which remain stable from generation to generation, with only minor, infrequent mutational changes. Females may participate by convincing an Darley-Surname male relative (grandfather, father, brother, uncle, cousin or nephew) to provide the requisite DNA as a representative of her line.
Primary Goals:
1) Provide a place for Darley family and related members to see their DNA results.
2) Determine the haplotype of each Darley family
3) Determine if the oral histories of each Darley family match DNA results.
4) Allow sharing of genealogical family information.
