1 – FTDNA counts upgrades from old Big Y to new Big Y-700 twice (to be fair, the 'upgrade' is actually a whole new Big Y-700 test).
2 – FTDNA includes autosomal transfer "kits", which do not require sample kits, in this figure, and surely did so in past years, as well. From what I see there are only 2 Y kit orders from 2019 that FTDNA has not received back (1 from a 12/24/19 order, 1 from a kit left in N. Ireland that hasn't yet been assigned to a tester).
