Updated 14 Jul 2023 - This surname Clay project is administered by the Clay Family Society (https://clayfamilysociety.net) to help find family connections for the Clays of all spelling and variations. By joining this project you agree to provide 3 things: 1) The surname of the person being tested 2) The name, date and place of birth of the oldest researched male ancestor of your male patrilineal line and the oldest researched female ancestor of your matrilineal line 3) Permission to publish the DNA results and the names, dates and places of birth of the oldest known patrilineal or matrilineal ancestor. The purpose of this project is to join genetically the various Clay lines in the absence of physical records. Further, our goal is to group men into Subgroups or Clans to help members understand who they are related to, without regard to surnames. Those who also join the Clay Family Society will be able to have their Clay pedigree added to the society's Trees & Branches database, which integrated Genealogy and Y-DNA. Surnames currently in Project: Clay, Claye, Kley While this group presently focuses on Clay surnamed males through Y-DNA, we welcome and encourage those connected to their Clay roots through mtDNA and autosomal DNA to join the project. As we progress, we hope to have pages specifically for mtDNA and aDNA as well.
