About us

1.  To provide impartial guidance to project members on the choice of DNA tests and the interpretation of test results; 

2.  To provide a facility allowing project members to compare their Y-DNA results with others;

3.  To provide a forum for discussion;

4.  To study Y-DNA results across the whole project to see which haplogroups appear to be the most dominant within MacLean/MacLaine men;

5.  To try to find a way of relating Y-DNA haplogroups to individual clan branches.

6.  To use Y-DNA test results to find which other surnames appear to be most closely related to our own;

7.  To work to close the gap in years between traditional paper-based genealogy and the period accessible only through Y-DNA testing.
