So far, and this is all very preliminary, of course, from basic research on other sources, there appears to be a link between Chaves and Chavez families, and possibly the Caceres family as well. The Chaves families of Portugal appear to be the same family as the Chavez families of Spain. Additionally we find that many Chaves families came from Chaves Portugal, and that many Chavez families came from Caceres Spain, where the surname Caceres is also mixed into some Chavez families. The two cities are not that far away from each other.

We hope that as we gather more members, we may be able to establish this in a scientifically defensible manner.
