I came across this site while researching an Albett ancestor. I was a bit surprised, but actually I had seen Roma in my DNA diagnostics on Genesis. I have no idea which line(s) this DNA comes from, so I did a bit more research. I found another Romany site that had a list of surnames that include many of my very far back ancestors that were mostly Spanish, although until beginning genealogy, I didn't even know I had way back ancestors from Spain. I grew up in the Deep South in the USA and never considered myself of any ethnicity. Interestingly, I was from time to time asked if I was "Gypsy", Mediterranean, or Spanish. This was pre-geneaelogy, so my answer was an amused "no". The more I've learned about my ancestry, the more I've realized those inquiries weren't so misguided. There are many surnames on the listing on this site that "could" be where my Romany DNA comes from. I'm 16.7% Irish, Scottish, and Welsh. As most researchers, I have some lines that just deadend on me. Using the tools on Genesis, I come up 21.6% Caucasian, 10.08% Caucas Parsia, 8.89% West Asian, 1.68% South Asian and .84% SW Asian. I have ancestors from Cornwall and Wales, Hungary, Croatia, Macedonia, and Yugaslovia. This is both in my tree research and my DNA. I'm interested in perhaps learning a bit more about my Romany ancestry. I may not identify the paper trial, but it would be wonderful if I can!
10.000 years ago, the Europe did not the same face like today. The haplogroup J2 and J-Z7671 from Kura–Araxes, Sopot and Lengyel culture can move to the north by nomads system.

Do you recognize this man born around 1922- 1927 ?
I ust joined your group today. I have some questions I display autosomal Middle eastern 4%, Indian (India) trace,South Central Asian, West asian, and Ashkenazi. As wellas 20% Iberian all unknown. The rest is British 58% and East European around 16 %!
My mother has Ashkemazi, African, West Asian, East Asian, South America, no Iberian. The rest she is East European and British.
I believe that my Middle Eastern dna is paternal and that some Iberian is also paternal I am testing my brother next month that should help. My paternal grandmother Marjorie Lee Cooley born in NC on a Diary farm was the daughter of first cousins, the (Brown, Thompson, Hartsvelder) lines they both share. Further Brown is a direct maternal lineage for my grandmother both her parents direct lines are Brown. So she shares autosomal Brown twice and X Chromosome Brown twice. Further I have Hartsvelder three times in my tree on two lines!!! I would like to find out if my 3rd g-grandmother Catherine Nye Templeman has Romani ancestry. Thank you.
This is a picture of my 3rd great I wanted to share because I want your opinion by the way she is dressed for her time period I would think it would be unusual to wear something out of the ordinary.
This past weekend was my birthday and one of the best pressies I received was the one and only picture that I've seen of my grandfather, Joseph McGinty - a true traveler. :)
