We have identified two distinct families.

First is the colonial Carolina family. David Bruton of Spartanburgh District, SC, James Brewton of Madison County, AL, Jesse Bruton of Greene County, NC, George Bruton of Anson County, NC, Nathan Bruton/Brewton of Dobbs County, NC, and Bulloch County, GA, Jesse P. Bruton (b. 1804) of Lenoir County, NC, Benjamin Bruton (b. 1761) of Dobbs County, NC, and ultimately Sumter Co., AL, and Joseph Brewton (b. 1768) of Dobbs County, NC., and Conecuh Co., AL, are all related and share a common ancestor!

Second we have identified another family with origins in County Galway, with descendants in both England and America.

We continue to seek male Bruton/Brewton descendants to take the Y-DNA test.  Please contact the study administrator if you are interested.
