About us
The Bellette Project is for those with the surname and variant spellings in their trees. It aims to identify the Y-DNA haplogroup/s of the Bellette male line/s and also allow those with the Bellette surname on other lines to share information on Family Finder matches and also traditional family research findings. While the project has been established by a descendant of Jacob Bellette who arrived in Australia on the First Fleet in 1788 and is particularly interested in that line, it also seeks to connect Jacob's line to other Bellette lines worldwide. Those from other Bellette lines (and variant spellings) are welcome to join the project so that we learn more about how the lines may or may not be connected.
