About us
This project is primarily looking for males with the Bellette surname (and variants such as Bellett, Billett, Billet, Belote, Bellot) to participate by taking one of FTDNA's Y-DNA tests. In particular, we are interested in the descendants of Jacob Bellette who arrived in Australia on the First Fleet in 1788, but we are also interested in establishing his link to Bellettes in Britain and other places around the world. Ultimately we hope to help all to learn more about their Bellette connections and so we also welcome any male and female Bellette descendants of any line to join the project through FTDNA's Family Finder test by either taking the test or uploading your DNA file from other testing sites. While only the results of direct Bellette line Y-DNA is displayed in the results section, the activity feed is a place where people can ask questions and share information to improve our knowledge of the Bellette family lines. Note that while the Bellette spelling is used throughout this site, those with variant spellings are also included and welcome to join the project.
