Update:

Big Y-500

The BigY-500 is now available. In addition to everything the Big Y featured, the BigY-500 includes testing of up to 450 STRs.

Important:Customers who had the Big Y product have been automatically switched tothe Big Y-500.

Movingforward, customers who purchase a Big Y-500 will also have to purchase orupgrade to the Y-DNA111 test. However, customers do not have to have a Y-STRtest already before purchasing the Big Y-500 since it contains the Y-111. Big Ywithout STRs will no longer be available.  

Dashboard

On thedashboard, in the Big Y-500 section, a Y-STR Results button has been added inaddition to the Results and Matches buttons. The Y-STR Results button willdirect the user to the Y-DNA – Standard Y-STR Values page. Big Y-500 will notinclude matching beyond Y-111. 

Big Y-500 Page

The BigY-500 - Results page functions exactly as the Big Y - Results page. The onlychange to the page is the replacement of Big Y with Big Y-500. 

Y-DNA – Standard Y-STR Values Page

Currentcustomers who had the Big Y now have the Big Y-500. Their Panel 6 (112-561) STRresults are now displayed on the Y-DNA – Standard Y-STR Values page.

Panel 6 STRs - (112-561)

For thePanel 6 STRs, customers may not have results for all 450 STRs. When a customerhas a “no call” result for an STR, a "–" is displayed on the Panelfor that STR. 

*Note thatwe guarantee results for at least 389 of the Panel 6 450 STRs. In the unlikelyevent that a customer has results for fewer than 389 of the Panel 6 STRs, wewill have to do a rerun on the test.

CSV Download

The CSVdownload will display all panels/STR locations regardless of whether the userhas tested for all of the STRs. A "-" will be displayed for allSTRs that are not tested.

Please note- STR Results may be different than other companies score. 

AtFamilyTreeDNA, we typically count only perfect repeats so some of the Big Y-500Panel 6 Y-STR allele values will consistently differ from that of othercompanies. The difference will be offset by only a few values above or belowthe results of other companies.

RELEASE NOTES  

• We have removed the search field in the upper left corner of the website. It will require programming changes to make the search both function correctly and to comply with upcoming European Union and UK regulations, so we have removed it for now.
• MyHeritage™ autosomal transfers are now treated the same as 23andMe© and Ancestry™ transfers. The transfer itself is free, and $19 unlocks myOrigins, the Chromosome Browser and ancientOrigins. Nothing has changed about the transfer process.
• We have updated the disclaimer for SNP Pack purchases. It now reads:It is possible to test negative for all SNPs in an order. If you have a Big Y test completed or in process, you may have already tested this information. Please be advised that in either situation, no refunds will be given. Do you wish to proceed with the purchase? Hopefully, this change will help alleviate confusion when purchasing a SNP pack.

Update-6/6/2017 8:30AM-Alabama: Haplogroup predictions are currently being updated using new data. Your Haplogroup prediction may change upon completion.

I am one of the admins of the Skanke surname project at FTDNA.
We have noted that it might be a link between Skanke and Barefoot way back intime.

In Skanke we have found a unique marker R1b-S6989 that might be interesting forBarefoot also.
It is under R1b - M269 - U106 - Z18 - Z372 - S3207 - S6989
An upgrade of a M269 kit with an Z18 SNP pack @ $119 will reveal if there is aconnection.

You have to kits with M269 that looks a bit like Z18 people in our group.
