Membership in this project is only open to male DNA test Kits whose ancestry has a known patrilineal connection to Alsace. To qualify for membership, the known genealogical connection between the test Kit and the Alsatian ancestor must be all-male. This is because females do not have a Y-chromosome. The goal of this group is to find y-SNP haplogroups and y-STR haplotypes that are representative of Alsatian ancestry. This would become impossible if members are added who do not have a known all-male lineage to Alsace. The long-term goal of this group is to find family lines with deep roots in Alsace. If you meet the male membership criteria and have a known Alsace ancestor, please submit a "Join" request. Otherwise, thank you for your interest. The French Region of Alsace is currently composed of two Departments: Bas-Rhin (Dept. 67) and Haut-Rhin (Dept. 68). This project does NOT include the region of Lorraine.
