About us
This project is attempting to obtain the haplogroups for my childrens' 4-greats grandparents (6 generations back). This means tracing down the different male lines and different female lines to find descendents who will participate to find their DNA haplogroups. I am interested in seeing how the different groups have come together to form 'us'. I have the paper trails for many of the 64 ancestors from that generation but some won't have female or male lines all the way to the present. I have broken the project into 8 subgroups, each will have multiple surnames and may be a conglomerate of different cultural backgrounds:
Damschrodersup - males: At least Dutch, German, English; consisting of the known last names of Damschroder/Damschroeder, Niendick, Meyerholtz/Myerholtz/Meyerholts/Mireholts..., Hurrelbrink/Hurdlebrink, Ingraham, White, Lewis, Fuller, Kolkemeyer/Kolkemeier, Koester, Sampson/Samson/Samsen/Sampsen, Baden, Kruse, (3 currently unknown surnames for that generation).
Damschrodersup - females: At least Dutch, German, English; consisting of the known last names of Damschroder/Damschroeder, Niendick, Meyerholtz/Myerholtz/Meyerholts/Mireholts..., Hurrelbrink/Hurdlebrink, Ingraham, White, Lewis, Fuller, Kolkemeyer/Kolkemeier, Koester, Sampson/Samson/Samsen/Sampsen, Baden, Kruse, (3 currently unknown surnames for that generation).
Althoffsup - males: At least German, English; consisting of the known last names of Althoff, Stoeppelmann/Stoeppleman, Bergmann, Strassmeyer, Roepke/Roebke/Ripke, Kurth, Manselmann, Rachels/Rachel, Johnson, Nash/Naish, Frater, Roddom, Cook, (3 currently unknown names for that generation).
Althoffsup - females: At least German, English; consisting of the known last names of Althoff, Stoeppelmann/Stoeppleman, Bergmann, Strassmeyer, Roepke/Roebke/Ripke, Kurth, Manselmann, Rachels/Rachel, Johnson, Nash/Naish, Frater, Roddom, Cook, (3 currently unknown names for that generation).
Ortasup - males: Puerto Rican with the possible mix of Spanish or Portuguese, Italian, African; consisting of the known last names of Orta, Vizcarrondo, Oquendo/Soquendo, de la Cruz, Mojica, Allende, Cruz, Rodriguez (8 currently unknown names for that generation).
Ortasup - females: Puerto Rican with the possible mix of Spanish or Portuguese, Italian, African; consisting of the known last names of Orta, Vizcarrondo, Oquendo/Soquendo, de la Cruz, Mojica, Allende, Cruz, Rodriguez (8 currently unknown names for that generation).
Fargasup - males: Puerto Rican with the possible mix of Spanish/Portuguese, English, African, Taino Indian/Central American Indian; consisting of the known last names of Fargas/Falgas, Hiralde/Giralde, Bultron, Arroyo, Delgado, Ayala, Andino, Concepcion, Ramos, Walker, Rivera? (7 currently unknown names for that generation).
Fargasup - females: Puerto Rican with the possible mix of Spanish/Portuguese, English, African, Taino Indian/Central American Indian; consisting of the known last names of Fargas/Falgas, Hiralde/Giralde, Bultron, Arroyo, Delgado, Ayala, Andino, Concepcion, Ramos, Walker, Rivera? (7 currently unknown names for that generation).
For each of these subgroups I am trying to find the haplogroups from the Y-67 tests for males and the full mtDNA test for females. Family Finder would also be helpful.
Several additional goals include:
1. Finding additional ancestry for Fullers and Lewis' as we are 'stuck' and need to find additional previous generations for what we have - ie using Family Finder tests to try and match up with other surname projects to determine additional ancestors in our line.
2. Determining the possible connection of one large group of Althoffs to another large group of Althoffs probably using Family Finder testing (I have each group traced from entry into America to at least the 1930 census).
3. Connecting the different Bultron families.
