JOIN REQUEST REQUIREMENT ~ You MUST have a Y-DNA 37, 67 or 111 test for a male ancestor who resided in Johnson Co. Illinois prior to 1950 in order to join this project. In your JOIN REQUEST for the "Tell us what you know..." section - you MUST provide the full name of your earliest DOCUMENTED male Johnson Co. Illinois ancestor, and his date and place of birth/death. Provide the same information for each male generation down to your great-grandparent. Provide sources that place your ancestor(s) in Johnson Co. IL. Do not send a link to a website or online genealogy. The purpose of this project is to document the YDNA lines of families that resided in Johnson Co. IL prior to 1950. Women interested in specific Johnson Co. Illinois ancestors must locate a male in their family line, born with that surname, and ask them to do the Y-DNA test. Once the Y-DNA line of a Johnson Co. IL male ancestor has been established, very close cousins, who share that ancestor, may join this project with an autosomal DNA test known as Family Finder at FTDNA, or the Ancestry or 23&Me data transfer.
