This project is open to anyone who carries the surname of Barnts or Barntz or anyone who thinks they are linked to this name.  Our first match was someone with the surname of Barnes so your family name may have been changed from Barnts or Barntz.  

Since it is our goal to find the origin of this family name and locate others trying to break through those genealogical brick walls we encourage you to join our project.  We are family historians and genealogists who want to solve those mysteries.  

We think our Barnts or Barntz name may be German but have yet to prove that.  The creators of this surname project have traced their Barnts/Barntz line back to Pennsylvania whose earliest ancestor proven to date is Isaac Barnts/Barntz born 1815 in Pennsylvania.  We welcome anyone who wants to participate.
