04 FEB 2006: It appears that a Y-DNA similarity exists between the results of the descendants of our two Josephs! The Joseph Mahan (b. circa 1828) of Tennessee is shares a genetic distance of 2 from the Joseph Mahan (b. 1787) of southwestern Virginia. Could they have been cousins? We need more Mahan/Mahon/McMahan/McMahon/etc. Y-DNA participants!
15 FEB 2006: Our new McMahon participant from Ireland shares an 11/12 match to the Y-DNA results of the descendant of Joseph Mahan (1787-1865)! It is quite apparent that the "Mc" became missing somewhere between Ireland and Virginia (USA)!
13 OCT 2006: ATTENTION KIT #35058!!! Kit #70862 REALLY would like to hear from you as you both are a 12/12 marker match of the same surname as recently received Y-DNA results reveal! I strongly advise a 25-marker upgrade at the very least. Your Tennessee roots are not too far away from that of Kit #70862 so you might be cousins at the very least. Please make contact at your earliest convenience...
