About us
Welcome to the Young Project
Young & Allied Surnames Y-DNA study: Open to male participants of the YOUNG, YOUNGE, YONG, YOUNGER, JUNG, YUNG, YOUNGS, & YOUNGE. Other variant names worldwide are encouraged to join us. A sister One-Name Study is also available for further genealogical research at WikiTree.
Whether you are a novice family historian or an expert genealogist, we are thrilled to have you join our growing community of nearly 1,000 members. By combining modern Y-DNA testing with traditional genealogy, we are working together to map the many distinct branches of the Young family tree and trace our ancestors back to their original genetic homelands.
Navigating the Project Website
To help you get the most out of your participation, our project pages are laid out as follows:
* Overview: This overview and the information available on each page.
* Background: A short explanation of the Young surname.
* Goals: Details about the Project's purpose and goals.
* News: Project-related news and events.
* Results: Detailed information about each subgroup in the Project.
* Updates - Members Only: A log of updates made to the Project.
We encourage you to explore the site, upload your family tree (GEDCOM), and review your Y-DNA matches to help us make even more groundbreaking discoveries. If you have any questions along the way, our volunteer project administrators are here to help!
