The Windsor Surname Project has NOTHING to do with the British Royal family. It exists to identify the various genuine Windsor lineages, their genetic composition, and the interrelationships of the members. Such information is invaluable to family historians and genealogists, and also to geneticists, anthropologists and social historians. We need Windsor men to join this project! You can do so by testing your Y chromosome ("Y-DNA") and then submitting a Join request to the Administrator. It would also be extremely beneficial if our members would take the Big Y-700, which effectively completes your Y-DNA testing. "Most Distant Ancestor" in the Settings information means the most distant ancestor in the direct male lineage, not merely the most distant ancestor on the father's side of the family tree. In other words, it should be the most distant Windsor male (father, father's father, etc.). Moreover, women who are submitting a male relative's Y-DNA for inclusion in the Project should include his name rather than their own.
