#33570 and #N34864 have identified in their lineage the Common Ancestor, Thomas (1620-1704); this Ancestor is nine generations from both Participants.  #33570 descends from Thomas and Sarah Meriam (wife #1) while #N34864 descends from Thomas and Sarah Beers (wife #2).  While these two Participants have a perfect 12/12 match we can only consider the 12 marker results as a “preliminary” Ancestral Result for the identified Common Ancestor.  We have 67 marker results for #33570, so it would be beneficial to have #N34864 upgrade to 67 markers.

The probabilities for Group 1 Participants suggest that Participants #33570, #35686, #48601, #132798, #158222, #187758 and #N69834 are more likely to share a Common Ancestor in the period of 12 to 24 generations.  The Participants #32126, #99628, and #N34864 are more likely to share a Common Ancestor in the period beyond 24 generations.

The current DNA test results may be suggesting some questionable near-term relationships in the lineage of #32126 and #48601.  These two Participants have identified in their lineage the Common Ancestor, John (1661-1721).  This ancestor is seven generations from #32126 and nine generations from #48601; we would expect an extremely high probability relationship for this Common Ancestor.  However, when using 37 marker results these two Participants only have a CAP of 78% within the time period of John.  While #48601 shows a higher CAP of 99.3% with #33570 within this time period, yet no Common Ancestor was identified by these two Participants for this time period.

#32126, #33570, #48601, and #N34864 have all listed in their lineage the Common Ancestor Thomas (1561-1634/35).  This is the same Thomas identified by Group 4 Participant #33457 as a hypothetical Ancestor in his lineage.  #33457 has a predicted Haplogroup of I.  According to Family Tree DNA, “The I, I1, and I1a lineages are nearly completely restricted to northwestern Europe.  These would most likely have been common within Viking populations.  One lineage of this group extends down into central Europe.”  Since #33457 is not of the same Haplogroup as the Participants in CA Group 1, he DOES NOT have a “genetic” relationship to their Common Ancestor.

Although DNA test results confirm there is NO “genetic” relationship of #33457 to CA Group 1, there may still be a “family” relationship based on undocumented circumstances.  This relationship might be explained by a "non-paternal" event, which could be an unreported adoption, in at least one of the many lines of descent.

Multiple males, from all possible lines of descent, shouldbe tested to gather all the “genetic information” we can.  Each additional male tested will provide“new” information to aid in our attempt to resolve the apparent conflict in thegenetic lineage of the current Participants who claim Thomas (1561-1634/35) or John(1661-1721) in their lineage.  FamilyTree DNA states…”This is an important and very practical question that speaksto the heart of genealogical testing and research.  The chance that a match does not exist due toinfidelity or unreported adoptions occurs 2%-5% of the time pergeneration.  For families trying to dofamily reconstruction, it is prudent to test 2 different known male cousinsfrom each different branch.”  Theresolution of whether this “Thomas” or “John” is in the lineage of anyParticipant will depend on a high probability match with other Participants whomay be able to provide additional research documentation to support a claim of lineageto this Ancestor.

The diagram CAG 1 on the Photos page is representative of current information and is subject to revision as additional Participants are tested.  Ancestors are listed with birth years unless otherwise noted.  The markers at the end node are the mutations which vary from the Group 1 modal values (#33570 matches the modal) and may be "branch" markers for the designated lineage.  The red markers are "fast" mutating markers.

Research Note:  Based on the information provided by Group 3 Participants, the current DNA test data provides a convenient method to categorize Group 3 Participants into Subgroups.  Therefore, the most closely matched Participants are now listed as Subgroup 3A, 3B, 3C, and 3D.

Participants in Common Ancestor Subgroup 3A (CAS3A) have a 35/37 match with each other.  They all identify their Common Ancestor as Thomas Wheeler (1740-1828).  #27100 has a predicted Haplogroup of R-M269; he descends from William (1769-1854), son of Thomas and has an apparent branch marker of DYS458=17 for William.  #N19009 has a confirmed Haplogroup of R-M269; he descends from William (1790-1870), son of John, son of Thomas and has an apparent branch marker of DYS464c=16 for this William.  #36399 has a confirmed Haplogroup of R-P25; he descends from John A. (1802-?), son of John, son of Thomas and has an apparent branch marker of DYS442=11 for John A.  All markers for CAS3A Participants should be tested and additional sons of Thomas (1740-1828) must be tested to confirm these apparent branch markers or determine whether there are additional branch markers.  The Ancestral Result for the Common Ancestor Thomas is still undetermined until more living descendants of his sons are tested.

The three Participants #156867, #169764, and #356269 in Common Ancestor Subgroup 3B (CAS3B) have a predicted Haplogroup of R-M269.  #156867 descends from Elijah (1788-1877), son of William; #169764 descends from Rev. John (1789-aft 1860), son of William; and #356269 descends from Elisha (1808-1886).  Since #156867 and #169764 have a perfect match at 67 markers no individual branch markers can be identified.  Therefore, if the information provided by Participants is correct, we have the 67 marker Ancestral Result for the Common Ancestor William (1767-1846).  #356269 shows a mismatch with the other two Participants at marker DYS-CDYb, this may be the branch marker for this individual lineage.

In the Wheeler Cousins book on p.61, is the statement..."...Of the four Bedford County, Virginia Wheelers who hold our main research interest...Rowland Wheeler [Sr.], Thomas Wheeler, Benjamin Wheeler and Archelaus Wheeler...Rowland Wheeler is a central and key figure to their earlier history.  Although we have not documented a direct connection between Rowland Wheeler [Sr.] and the other three Wheelers, there is some circumstantial evidence of a relationship between the four men."

If the information provided by CAS3A and CAS3B Participants is correct, it appears we now have very strong DNA evidence of a Common Ancestor for the Rowland Sr. (abt 1740-1792) lineage and the Thomas (1740-1828) lineage.  The Participants in these two subgroups show a Genetic Distance 1 (based on 37 markers).  This is a Common Ancestor Probability (CAP) between the Participants in CAS3A and CAS3B of 97% within 12 generations and 99.98% within 24 generations.  However, all Participants in CAS3A should test their remaining markers to confirm the relationship of Rowland Sr. and Thomas to a Common Ancestor.  We do not know the exact relationship of Rowland Sr. and Thomas (brother, cousin, uncle, nephew, etc.) or how far back the Common Ancestor may be.  This lineage relationship can only be determined by traditional documented research.  Rowland Sr. had other sons (Matthew, John, Nathan, Roland Jr. and maybe Anderson), and William (1767-1846) is "believed" to be a son, although no primary source documentation has been provided.  So it would be desirable to test the known sons of Rowland Sr. to see if the "William" relationship is probable.  Testing additional sons of Rowland Sr. will add to the evidence in supporting the lineage relationship between Rowland Sr. and Thomas.  Determining the Ancestral Result for Rowland Sr. and Thomas is a worthwhile objective and would help determine the genetic branching of the lines, as we have more people tested in the Project who are related to this Common Ancestor Group.  All Participants in CAS3A should test their remaining markers to confirm the relationship of Rowland Sr. and Thomas to a Common Ancestor.

While Participant #120032 has close matches with other Participants in Group 3, I am placing him in Common Ancestor Group 3D with a Participant #255481 who has the surname "Trull."  This Trull lineage shares a perfect 67/67 match with #120032.

Another important detail revealed in the DNA data is related to the fast mutating markers DYS576 and DYS570.  Both CAS3A and CAS3B Participants have DYS576=18 and DYS570=18 while CAS3C Participants have DYS576=17 and DYS570=17.  This is why the results of #120032 are of particular interest, since this Participant shows DYS576=18 and DYS570=17.  The lineage of #120032 may be the "missing link" for the Subgroups.  However, confirmation of this hypothesis requires more traditional research and documentation to be done on this lineage and additional Participants from this lineage should be tested.

Participant #561441 tested for 111 markers and his closest match is with #154595, a Genetic Distance (GD) of 2 and represents a CAP of 100% within 16 generations.  He has a GD2 match with #77282, a CAP of 100% within 19 generations.  He also has a GD2 match with #120032, a CAP of 100% within 20 generations.  He has a GD4 match with #255481, a CAP of 100% within 22 generations.  He also has a GD4 match with #169764, a CAP of 99.99% within 24 generations.  The probabilities for the same Genetic Distance have different probabilities because the mutations in different markers with different mutation rates.  He has a GD5 match with #356269, a CAP of 99.99% within 24 generations.  Considering his 67 marker matches he has a GD1 match with #167643, a CAP of 100% within 18 generations.

All Participants in Common Ancestor Subgroup 3C (CAS3C) have tested at least 67 markers and they all have a predicted Haplogroup of R-M269.  Only #154595 and #167643 have identified their Common Ancestor as Charles Wheeler (1775-1855).  #154595 descends from Erastus (1811-1873), son of Charles and has an apparent branch marker of DYSCDYb=40 for Erastus.  #167643 descends from Thomas H. (?-?), son of Charles and has an apparent branch marker of DYSCDYa=36 for Thomas H.

When we compare the CAP between the Subgroups we find CAS3A and CAS3B are in the range of 97% within 12 generations and 99.98% within 24 generations.  The CAP for CAS3A and CAS3C is in the range of 52% within 12 generations and 95.58% within 24 generations.  The CAP for CAS3B and CAS3C is in the range of 88% within 12 generations and 99.85% within 24 generations.  These probabilities suggest it is more likely that CAS3A and CAS3B share a Common Ancestor nearer in time, while CAS3A and CAS3B share a Common Ancestor with CAS3C further back in time.

The diagram CAG 3 on the Photos page is representative of current information and is subject to revision as additional Participants are tested.  Ancestors are listed with birth years unless otherwise noted.  The markers at the end node are the mutations which vary from the Group 3 modal values and may be "branch" markers for the designated lineage.  The red markers are "fast" mutating markers.  The two Participants in "green" (#156867 and #169764) are perfect 67/67 matches and represent the modal.  The two Participants in "blue" (#120432 and #255481) are perfect 67/67 matches.

Research Note:  Based on the current DNA test data I have decided to categorize Group 4 Participants into two Subgroups.  Therefore, the most closely matched Participants are now listed as Common Ancestor Subgroup 4A and 4B.

#136005 tested 12 markers, #N20861 and #33457 tested 37 markers; #65898, #94810, #123721 and #194533 tested 67 markers.  Within this Group 4, #33457 and #N20861 have a predicted Haplogroup I1, while all the others have a confirmed Haplogroup I1.  According to Family Tree DNA, “The I, I1, and I1a lineages are nearly completely restricted to northwestern Europe.  These would most likely have been common within Viking populations.  One lineage of this group extends down into central Europe.”

#136005 had a 12/12 match with every Participant is this Group.  Although he is a direct line relative of #94810, it would be beneficial to have all his markers tested to determine if any markers have mutated from the modal value.

The Participants assigned to CAS4A are #65898, #94810, #123721, #136005, and #194533.  #65898 and #94810 have a 65/67 match, they differ on DYS570 and DYS557; a CAP of 99.99% within 24 generations.  #65898 and #123721 have a 65/67 match, they differ on DYS557 and DYS481; a CAP of 99.99% within 24 generations.  Even though #65898 has a Genetic Distance of 2 with each of these Participants, all the probabilities before 22 generations are different.  Since each marker has a different mutation rate, identical Genetic Distances will not necessarily yield the same probabilities.

According to the Lineage provided by #94810 and #123721, they identify the Common Ancestor Jan Wheeler (1692-aft 1740); they are related as seventh cousins.  #94810 and #136005 descend from the son Sebastian (1721-1788) while #123721 descends from the son Conrad (1725-?).  The mutation for these two related lines occurs in Marker DYS570 and Marker DYS481.  The Sebastian Line is identified with DYS570=22 and a DYS481=25, while the Conrad Line is identified with DYS570=21 and DYS481=24.  The CAP for these Participants is 99.99% within 24 generations.

#194533 and #94810 have a 61/67 match; a CAP of 99.87% within 28 generations.  #194533 also has a 61/67 match with #65898 and #123721; a CAP of 99.58% within 28 generations.

#483382 and #583915 have a 101/111 match, a CAPof 98.1% within 24 generations.

The Participants assigned to CAS4B are #33457 and #N20861.  These two Participants have a 36/37 match; a CAP of 99.97% within 24 generations.

The lineage of #33457 is based on primary sources up to Moses Wheeler.  The lineage after Moses up to the time of Thomas and Rebecca is considered hypothetical by #33457.  This is the same Thomas identified in the lineage of CA Group 1 Participants #32126, #33570, #48601, and #N34864.  Since #33457 is not of the same Haplogroup as the Participants in CA Group 1, he DOES NOT have a “genetic” relationship to their Common Ancestor.

Multiple males, from all possible lines of descent, should be tested to gather all the “genetic information” we can.  Each additional male tested will provide “new” information to aid in our attempt to resolve the apparent conflict in the genetic lineage of the current Participants who claim “Thomas” in their lineage.  Family Tree DNA states…”This is an important and very practical question that speaks to the heart of genealogical testing and research.  The chance that a match does not exist due to infidelity or unreported adoptions occurs 2%-5% of the time per generation.  For families trying to do family reconstruction, it is prudent to test 2 different known male cousins from each different branch.”  The resolution of whether this “Thomas” is in the lineage of any Participant will depend on a high probability match with other Participants who may be able to provide additional research documentation to support a claim of lineage to this Ancestor.

The diagram CAG 4 on the Photos page is representative of current information and is subject to revision as additional Participants are tested.  Ancestors are listed with birth years unless otherwise noted.  The markers at the end node are the mutations which vary from the Group 4 modal values and may be "branch" markers for the designated lineage.  The red markers are "fast" mutating markers.  Ancestors in "red" have been listed by two of more Participants who are from different Haplogroups; this fact suggest conflicting information with the genealogical research.

Research Note:  #53723 and #N37859 tested 12 markers and have a predicted Haplogroup I1.  #79789, #88900, #140139 and #147468 tested 67 markers; they have a confirmed Haplogroup I1.  According to Family Tree DNA, “The I, I1, and I1a lineages are nearly completely restricted to northwestern Europe.  These would most likely have been common within Viking populations.  One lineage of this group extends down into central Europe.”

All Participants in this Group share a 12/12 match; the relationship of #53723 and #N37850 to all the other Participants in this Group shows a CAP of 91.41% within 24 generations.

However, #79789, #88900 and #140139 all have an “exact” 67/67 match.  These are the only 67/67 matches in the Project and means that we have identified the “Ancestral Result” for their Common Ancestor.  The only problem now is trying to identify this Common Ancestor.  His identity can only be determined by evaluating the traditional family history research provided by these Participants.  The identity of the Common Ancestor cannot be determined from the current genealogy research provided by these Participants.  However, these three Participants, previously unknown to each other, now know they share a Common Ancestor.  The CAP for their relationship is 100% within 18 generations.  #147468 also has a close relationship with this sub-Group with a 65/67 match, they differ on DYS464b (a fast mutating marker) and DYS531; a CAP of 99.99% within 24 generations.

#53723 and #88900 claim the same Ancestor (Dominick) as #15281 from the Unassigned Group.  Since the two Participants in this Group are not of the same Haplogroup as #15281 they DO NOT have a “genetic” relationship to a Common Ancestor.

Although DNA test results confirm there is NO “genetic” relationship of #53723 and #88900 with #15281, there may still be a “family” relationship based on undocumented circumstances.  This relationship might be explained by a "non-paternal" event, which could be an unreported adoption, in at least one of the many lines of descent.

Multiple males, from all possible lines of descent, should be tested to gather all the “genetic information” we can.  Each additional male tested will provide “new” information to aid in our attempt to resolve the apparent conflict in the genetic lineage of the current Participants who claim Dominick (1565-1616) in their lineage.  Family Tree DNA states…”This is an important and very practical question that speaks to the heart of genealogical testing and research.  The chance that a match does not exist due to infidelity or unreported adoptions occurs 2%-5% of the time per generation.  For families trying to do family reconstruction, it is prudent to test 2 different known male cousins from each different branch.”  The resolution of whether this “Dominick” is in the lineage of any Participant will depend on a high probability match with other Participants who may be able to provide primary research documentation to support a claim of lineage to this Ancestor.

The diagram CAG 5 on the Photos page is representative of current information and is subject to revision as additional Participants are tested.  The markers at the end node are the mutations which vary from the Group 5 modal values and may be "branch" markers for the designated lineage.  The four Participants in "green" (#140139, #88900, #79789 and #271612) are perfect 67/67 matches and represent the modal.  The red markers are "fast" mutating markers.  Ancestors in "red" have been listed by two or more Participants who are from different Haplogroups; this fact suggest conflicting information with the genealogical research.

Research Note:  All Participants in this Group, with the exception of #141475, have tested either 67 or 111 markers.  #35629 is confirmed as Haplogroup R1b1, while everyone else has a predicted Haplogroup R1b1a2.

#141475 has a 12/12 match with #35629, #77819 and #120256; a CAP of 91.41% within 24 generations.  He has a 11/12 match with #183640; a CAP of 68.87% within 24 generations.  He also has a 11/12 match with #177992; a CAP of 66.71% within 24 generations.

Participants #35629 and #120256 have listed in their lineage the Common Ancestor Julius Morton Wheeler.  #35629 descends from Marcus, son of Julius and #120256 descends from Herbert, son of Julius.  These two Participants have a 66/67 match even though the Common Ancestor is only four generations removed from them.  Currently the marker values for #120256 represent the modal values for Group 6.  Since we have a single marker mismatch at marker DYS458 and we have a Common Ancestor with confirmed documentation we can define a preliminary Ancestral Result for Julius Morton Wheeler (1817-1884).  I say "preliminary" because we do not have a "perfect" match and the modal value for DYS458=18 could change as the Group sample size increases.  The lineage of Marcus has DYS458=17 which is a mutation from the Modal Value of 18.  We do not know in which generation from Marcus down to Participant #120256 has the mutation.  Additional males descended from Marcus will need to be tested to determine the generation where the mutation of DYS458 occurs as a designated branch marker.

#35629 and #77819 have a 65/67 match; a CAP of 99.99% within 24 generations.

#35629 and #120256 identify the same Ancestor (Julius M.) as #36656 of the Unassigned Group.  #35629 and #120256 descend from the first marriage and #36656 descends from the second marriage.  These Participants are from a Common Haplogroup, however, their individual marker test results confirm #35629 and #120256 DO NOT have a “genetic” relationship to #36656.  Although DNA test results confirm there is NO “genetic” relationship; there is a “family” relationship based on the documented record.  The “genetic” mismatch is apparently a "non-paternal" event, which could be an unreported adoption in the second marriage of Julius Morton Wheeler.

#77819 and #120256 have a 66/67 match; a CAP of 100% within 22 generations.

Participants #177992 and #183640 have listed in their lineage the Common Ancestor Wiley E. Wheeler.  #177992 descends from Elijah, son of Wiley and #183640 descends from Hiram, son of Wiley.  These two Participants have a 64/67 match even though the Common Ancestor is only five generations removed from them.  Since these two Participants differ on a number of markers we cannot conclude which of these markers represent branch markers for Elijah and Hiram; we would have to test additional males in the direct lineage.

#177992 has a 64/67 match with #120256; a CAP of 99.89% within 24 generations.  He has a 63/67 match with #77819; a CAP of 99.54% within 24 generations.  He also has a 63/67 match with #35629; a CAP of 99.54% within 24 generations.

#183640 has a 63/67 match with #120256; a CAP of 99.61% within 24 generations.  He has a 62/67 match with #77819; a CAP of 98.74% within 24 generations.  He also has a 62/67 match with #35629; a CAP of 98.72% within 24 generations.

#307429 tested 111 markers; he has a 65/67 match with #77819; a CAP of 99.98% within 24 generations.  He has a 64/67 match with #120256; a CAP of 99.89% within 24 generations.  He has a 63/67 match with #35629; a CAP of 99.55% within 24 generations.  He has a 62/67 match with #177992; a CAP of 98.58% within 24 generations.  He has a 61/67 match with #183640; a CAP of 96.74% within 24 generations.

The diagram CAG 6 on the Photos page is representative of current information and is subject to revision as additional Participants are tested.  Ancestors are listed with birth years unless otherwise noted.  The markers at the end node are the mutations which vary from the Group 6 modal values (#120256 matches the modal) and may be "branch" markers for the designated lineage.  The red markers are "fast" mutating markers.

Lineage of #N14289

Information release and Lineage not provided; Oldest Ancestor identified as Thomas Wheeler b. 1616 in Cranfield, Bedfordshire, England, d. 1672 in Milford, CT.

Research Note:  Both Participants in this Group have tested 37 markers.  #85318 has a predicted Haplogroup R1a1, while #N14289 is confirmed Haplogroup R1a1.  According to Family Tree DNA, “…R1a lineage is believed to have originated in the Eurasian Steppes north of the Black & Caspian Seas.  This lineage is thought to descend from a population of the Kurgan culture, known for the domestication of the horse (circa 3000 B.C.E.).  These people were also believed to be the first speakers of the Indo-European language group.  This lineage is found in central & western Asia, India, and in Slavic populations of Europe.”  These two Participants have a 37/37 match; a CAP of 100% within 22 generations.

The diagram CAG 7 on the Photos page is representative of current information and is subject to revision as additional Participants are tested.  Ancestors are listed with birth years unless otherwise noted.  There are no mismatches between these two Participants for 37 markers, so no "branch" markers are indicated.  Ancestors in "red" have been listed by two of more Participants who are from different Haplogroups; this fact suggest conflicting information with the genealogical research.

Research Note:  #196282 tested 37 markers and has a predicted Haplogroup R1b1a2.  This Participant has some very distinguishing marker values.  He is the only Participant within the Project with DYS464e-f values and the only Participant with a "0" value at DYS GATA H4.  According to FTDNA ..."A value of "0" for any marker indicates that the lab reported a null value or no result for this marker.  All cases of this nature are retested multiple times by the lab to confirm their accuracy.  Mutations causing null values are infrequent, but are passed on to offspring just like other mutations, so related male lineages such as a father and son would likely share any null values."  Participant #517130 tested for 67 markers, he is a direct line descendant of #196282.

#N144382 tested 111 markers and his confirmed Haplogroup is R-Z2.  He has a 64/67 match with #517130; a CAP of 99.98% within 24 generations.  The three Participants in this group share the Common Ancestor Drummond Wheeler (1726-1791).

#N144382 claims the same Oldest Ancestor (John b.1538 d. 1567) as Group 1 Participants #32126 and #48601.  However, DNA test results confirm there is NO “genetic” relationship with the Group 1 Participants.

Although DNA test results confirm there is NO “genetic” relationship of #N144382 to CA Group 1, there may still be a “family” relationship based on undocumented circumstances.  This relationship might be explained by a "non-paternal" event, which could be an unreported adoption, in at least one of the many lines of descent.

Multiple males, from all possible lines of descent, should be tested to gather all the “genetic information” we can.  Each additional male tested will provide “new” information to aid in our attempt to resolve the apparent conflict in the genetic lineage of the current Participants who claim “John” in their lineage.  Family Tree DNA states…”This is an important and very practical question that speaks to the heart of genealogical testing and research.  The chance that a match does not exist due to infidelity or unreported adoptions occurs 2%-5% of the time per generation.  For families trying to do family reconstruction, it is prudent to test 2 different known male cousins from each different branch.”  The resolution of whether this “John” is in the lineage of any Participant will depend on a high probability match with other Participants who may be able to provide additional research documentation to support a claim of lineage to this Ancestor.

The diagram CAG 8 on the Photos page is representative of current information and is subject to revision as additional Participants are tested.  Ancestors are listed with birth years unless otherwise noted.  The markers at the end node are the mutations which vary from the Group 8 modal values and may be "branch" markers for the designated lineage.  The red markers are "fast" mutating markers.

Research Note:  #15281 tested 67 markers; his predicted Haplogroup is R1b1a2a1b5.  According to Family Tree DNA “Haplogroup R1b1 is the most common haplogroup in European populations.”

He claims the same Ancestor (Dominick) as #53723 and #88900 from CA Group 5, however, DNA test results confirm there is NO “genetic” relationship with the Group 5 Participants.  However, there may still be a “family” relationship based on undocumented circumstances.

Research Note:  #36656 tested 67 markers; his predicted Haplogroup is R1b1a2.  He does not match any Project Participant.  This Participant identified the same Ancestor (Julius M.) as #35629 and #120256.  These Participants are from a Common Haplogroup, however, their individual marker test results confirm #36656 DOES NOT have a “genetic” relationship to the other two Participants.

Although DNA test results confirm there is NO “genetic” relationship; there is a “family” relationship based on the documented record.  #35629 and #120256 descend from the first marriage of Julius M. and #36656 descends from the second marriage of Julius M.  The “genetic” mismatch is apparently a "non-paternal" event, which could be an unreported adoption in the second marriage of Julius Morton Wheeler.

Research Note:  #408976 tested 111 markers and his predicted Haplogroup is I-M223.  He does not match any of the current Participants in the Project.  He claims the same Oldest Ancestor (Henry) as #94810, #123721, and #136005 from CA Group 4, however, DNA test results confirm there is NO “genetic” relationship with the Group 4 Participants.  However, there may still be a “family” relationship based on undocumented circumstances.  This relationship might be explained by a "non-paternal" event, which could be an unreported adoption, in at least one of the many lines of descent.  In addition, his early lineage matches the lineage of #48601 from CA Group 1 up to George Wheeler (1605/06-bef. 1687) & Catherine Pin (abt. 1609-1683/84).  After this generation his remaining ancestors are the same as the three members in CA Group 4.  The Wheeler lineages in CA Group 1 and CA Group 4 are very complicated and original documentation has not been provided to clarify the true relationships.
