Genealogical research conducted by numerous researchers over the past century has identified a number of Weathers, Withers, Wethers and Wythers' family groups. These groups range from small family clusters in small geographical areas to large extended families spanning continents and oceans. Researchers have tried to find connections here and there between these family groups, but a scarcity of records has limited the search for distant ancestors in many cases and for more recent ancestors in some cases. The development of Y-DNA testing in recent years provides a tool by which family relationships can be proved or disproved at rates that will seem incredibly fast to those of us who have long sought such answers using conventional genealogical research tools in the absence of enough records.
