1.       To determine ethnic background on YDNA and mtDNA of original members of Vinton County Group.  

2.       To use YDNA and mtDNA along with census, tax, deeds, birth, marriage, and death records to determine possible relationships between the members of the group.  In some cases, DNA will tell us how individuals are NOT related.

3.       To determine YDNA and mtDNA matches outside the group within the FTDNA database to help understand the roots and ancestral connections of members of the original group.

Secondary Goal:

1.        To determine by use of YDNA and mtDNA if there is a tie to other tri-racial groups.  (Melungeons, Guineas, Carmel Indians, Lumbees, Darke County Group to name a few.)
