About us
Sep 6, 2019 - As of this date, we have 11 tests (2 still at the lab) and 3 guests. The descendants of Benjamin F. VanWinkle are really trying to find their connection and have 5 men that have tested. These 5 are from 4 different branches of their family.
Jul. 20, 2018 - We now have 5 test results and 1 guest from a female line. Of the 5 tests, we have 1 exact match on the CDY marker. We also have 1 test with a mutation on the DYS19 marker.
Apr. 7, 2018 - We have 3 Van Winkle tests in so far. On testing 37 markers, we have exact matches on everything except for CDY. In looking for answers on how to interpret CDY results, I found the following:
Posted by a Customer Support Specialist Sep. 21, 2016 - CDY A and B are some of the faster moving markers we test. It uses what is called the infinite allele method for counting mismatches. So whether it is a 35-40, 37-40, 39-40, these three would all be considered a genetic distance of 1 at this marker. The system will always list the lowest numeric value allele first. So you would not see one listed as 40-37 for example.
Excerpt from Estimating Per-Locus Mutation Rates by John F. Chandler, Sep. 12, 2006 - Theextreme cases, CDYa and CDYb,are thus about seven times as fast as the average for all 37...
