The Valle Maggia, which extends from the city ofLocarno northwest some 50 kilometres into the Alps, was one of the mostfruitful source of Swiss-Italian emigration to the New Worlds of the Americasand Australia. Because the Valle Maggia is geographically small, many of itsfamilies were already highly interrelated upon emigration from Ticino. Our taskis to plot that dissemination of the gene pool from the 19^th and 20^thcenturies into the twenty-first century.
