This is a surname project.  Surname projects often share basic goals, such as:

• Help members identify principal immigrants to America (where applicable)
• Help members identify principal places of origin in Europe (largely the UK in this case)
• Help members know of projects reaching back before surnames became common, which might be of interest to them
  

Finding others that share similar DNA is a very important part of this.  We encourage all who join to also invite any persons that appear on their list of closest matches to likewise join the project.
