The goal of this project is to connect all those researching the Trinder / Trindle and Trindade family lines and give them a forum for comparing DNA results, finding common research threads and sharing what they know.  All those with a Trinder / Trindle (and phonetically related surnames ) and Trindade ancestor are welcome - both Y-DNA and Family Find (FF) tests are accepted.

When the Trindle was commenced in 2008 the objective was stated as "an effort to determine the ancestry of William Trindle of Pennsylvania [1709-1774] and to sort out those who believe they are descended from him."   Following the merging of the Trindle and Trinder projects in 2019 the objectives were expanded to determining the ancestry and descendancy of the various Trinder / Trindle families and also to understanding the geography and timing of the expansion of the Trinder/Trindle surname/s around the world. 

Current research activities of project members include

• The ancestry of William Trindle of Pennsylvania [1709-1774] 

• The family of Tasmanian pioneer, Francis (Francisco) Silva Trinder (1844 - 1919) who was born in the Azores, Portugal. 

• Understanding the geography and timing of the expansion of the surname around the world
