About us

The first known mention of a variant of the name Treble was in a Saxon charter dated 739 A.D. The eighteen points on the perimeter of the Treable farm, located in Devon, were described in detail. The farm was again mentioned in the 976 A.D. landbook of Edward the Martyr and in Domesday (1086).  The Treble families in records following the Conquest were concentrated in south-west England. Since then they have spread worldwide with major numbers in the USA and Canada.  Over time the Treble family name has taken several adaptations, for instance Treable, Trebble, Trebel, Trible, Tribble, and Trefebel.  There are several theories with regard to origin of our Treble ancestors. One suggests that they came to England from the Balkans with auxiliaries of the Roman legions. Another possibility is that they were traders from the Mediterranean. Researchers using DNA are attempting to trace migration patterns of England's people.
