Thailand is a country with a diverse ethnic heritage and rich family traditions. It lies on the centre of the Indochinese peninsula in Southeast Asia. This project will gather DNA data that can help families build family trees and reconnect with lost family members. The data can also be used to learn more about the migration patterns and genetic origins of Thais who settled on the area of approximately 513,000 km2 (198,000 sq mi). All men and women who have full or partially Thai ancestry are welcome to join. Our goal is to gather paternal (Y-DNA), maternal (mt-DNA) and autosomal data from individuals of Thai ancestry, which can be used to help reconnect extended families, help Thais to learn about their ancestors, and to educate others about the history of Thailand.
